Our stay at Gir Jungle Lodge was comfortable and the staffs were friendly and helpful. The package included dinner and breakfast. On pre-order they also arange for chicken but the usual meal served is vegetarian, which includes Gujrati as well as Punjabi items. On request the manager provided us a 1st floor room with balcony (ground floor rooms don't have balconies). Room was spacious but even though the room was clean there is a lack of maintenance. Especially the furnitures and fixtures. The resort has ample parking area and driver accommodation. Food for driver is not included and charged at rs. 1000 for three meals. The resort is just two kms from Sinh Sadan on the Junagadh highway. Overall nice experience.

Well unfortunately this has to be the poorest of the Taj properties we have visited. We’ve been to their heritage, place, business and seleqtions properties all over the country and they’ve all been excellent but this one somehow didn’t pass muster. Yes it’s a nice enough property conveniently located near the Govt Reserve Office and in fact is the old Govt forest lodge. The staff are polite but perhaps not proactive or resourceful enough to sort out issues travellers maybe having, the food is average except the Gujarati dal which was very nice, the breakfast selection is average as is the taste and the less said about the Italian the better. Just this year we visited three Taj selections properties Ramgadh Lodge, Jaipur, Taj Chia Kutir, Kurseong Gir Lodge Sasangir, not to mention the beach luxury Exotica at Goa but this one was really a pretty tepid experience.

Hello There. We booked 4 rooms for our stay during 2 days of Diwali. My brother-in-law and his family made special plans to visit Sasan Gir from Mumbai - this was to be our first outing with complete family - my side and my wife's side - after almost 20 years of marriage! The Resort Overall: The resort is 2km away from the Sinh Sadan - the central zone of Sasan Gir National Park - right on the highway. This is one of the oldest resorts of Sasan Gir and the age shows. Seems more like a society of Duplex Raw Houses. Has three categories of rooms. Std rooms which are in the Raw Houses - Duplex setting; tents and a family room with 4 bed rooms. All the rooms are easily accessible via your car and the resort has a huge parking. They have separate driver's house as well but do not offer free food - you need to purchase food coupons worth 50/- for every meal which the drivers can use in a restaurant outside. The resort is one of the largest in the area - commanding a huge area. Rooms: We booked four rooms in the std. Duplex setup. The rooms are okay. Not too fancy at all. Not even 3 star class. Attached bathrooms are big but the fittings hardly work. Don't expect instantaneous hot water. They have fitted separate electric geysers which can give warm water for bath. The showers and toilet jets have very low pressure. The beds are average. TV channels are limited - but are you there to watch the TV or the lion or enjoy the jungle? AC works fine. The back side of the rooms opens up towards fields adjoining the resort - but riddled with bushes and one is always advised to keep the windows and doors properly sealed and locked. The curtains are not sufficient to provide a black-out or proper privacy because they are of thin cloth and don't cover the windows properly. Food / Dining / Room service: Room service is not provided. There are fixed times for break-fast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant is a longish covered porch adjoining the pool and kitchen. One dining hall is also there with AC for those wanting to dine inside. But no A-la-cart option. You eat what they cook. Sure, they can take care of your special needs if you inform in advance but in limited way. Quality and taste of the food are fine. Do not expect a full spread during your meals. Acivity / Open Areas: The reception can provide you with some indoor board games, badminton rackets and cock or cricket bat and ball. The walkways are grounds are large enough to enjoy some street cricket with your kids - that was our highlight for the stay. Swimming pool is clean enough and large enough. On one of the two nights, we also enjoyed Siddi Dhamal Dance (by local Gujarat based African Tribals) arranged for the guests by the Resort. Staff: The staff is very very helpful. I travelled with my aged parents. my father having walking problem, requires a lot of help and we could not manage a wheel chair (the resort doesnt have one either) yet the room with ramp was comfortable enough with the help of staff for him to get in to and the owner himself arranged for his sitting to enjoy the dance on the first night by the tribals. Can't thank them enough for their hospitality. Conclusion: Do not expect a luxurious stay here. Yet, it is a cozy enough place for a couple of nights. The rooms and dining matches the cost. The resort needs a lot of face-lift in rooms and overall and I'm sure it will be at par any up-market resorts around because of its size and location. It badly needs a modern touch and needs to include 24 hr restaurant where one can order A-la-cart and room service. Will visit again if they decide to modernize.

Stayed for 2 nights with family. Staff is not professional but they take care of your requirement very well. Very spacious property, decent, clean rooms.. only thing is they should improve on interiors as tap,door handles are little worn out...dinner was basic but it was too yummy... breakfast was ok... Overall very nice experience... P.S. 1. in Gir you should have your own vehicle as public transport is not good and little bit costly (from our resort to sing sadan one way open rickshaw was costing 150 that too not comfortable at all) 2. Very few places to eat and that too at distance (it will be difficult if you don't have your own vehicle)

First of all its my mistake to choose agoda as local support like other travel sites is missing Gir Jungle Lodge is located at a very convinient location but has very basic facilities not maintained properly with slippery floor and walkways Rooms are shabby with moisture patches Insects, red ants keep on entering in room because of monsoon and farm land. They provide drinking water but had to tell them that theree are two guests in room so to provide two glasses. Everytime you need any service, you got to call someone on the given mobile number. No convinient facility to contact reception Staff is well behaved and curtesous but not trained to work in hospitality industry Breakfast items served were cold TV was not working in the room and on informing the channel subscription was recharged Overall not a satisfyin experince and not value for money
